National Gallery of Art, East AtriumFor these sketches, I focused on the spatial forms and carving out of the space. The top diagram is a section that shows the levels of the atrium. The bottom right diagram is a plan of the different walkways, and the bottom left is diagrams of the ceiling tiles. This was my first one, and I wasn't very happy with how it came out.

Freer Gallery of Art
For these sketches, I did an elevation of the Freer Gallery. I started with the geometry of it to get the correct proportions (I outlined this in the diagram at the top right). I tried to vary the line weights to help distinguish the drawing. I did this freehand. I added the shading at the end to show that those arches have depth. Overall, I think it turned out nicely
Washington Harbour
For these sketches, I did a site plan of the Washington Harbor. I again outlined the geometry and illustrated my process in the drawings to the right. The hatch is for the buildings, while the white is open space. I wanted to emphasize this open space because it is a very open area for congregation and public use. I did this one freehand as well.
Finnish Embassy
For these sketches, I wanted to do something different than orthographic views, so I did a perspective. I did use a ruler for these drawings because I needed it for the two point perspective. I used color on this one because I thought the perspective lent itself to a more realistic depiction, and I thought the use of color in the structure was interesting to highlight. I also did details of the materials.
National Building Museum
For these sketches, I did a section. I used geometry to lay it out again and did it freehand. I had to use a view of the exterior to make sure it was correct. I added a bare bones floor plan so I could mark where the section is cut.
